Spring 2019 Events in Orange County

Spring is almost here and Orange County is starting to get busier and busier. The beaches are getting warmer and the boardwalk is filling up with bikers and runners again, though the true die-hards never stopped. Fantastic, locally curated events are happening all throughout Orange County, from family events to adult and even pet events. There are too many events in Orange County to list them all, but here are some of my personal recommendations.

Fun Spring Events in Orange County

Ocean Institute Jazz Fest – March 29 & 30

If you enjoy music, you don’t want to miss out on the Ocean Institute’s 17th Annual Jazz Fest. This festival has more than jazz music, though. There are amazing local restaurants that are going to come and show off their talents offering tastings of their cuisine as well as an open bar. The price of a ticket includes unlimited tastes and open bar for the evening. Listen to some amazing jazz music overlooking the Dana Point Harbor during sunset, and enjoy a night out with your spouse or fellow jazz music lovers.

Dana Point Festival of Whales – March 9 & 10

This event is perfect for the whole family, and one of nature’s most beautiful phenomena, the migration of whales. Humpback whales, gray whales and their calves splash up and down the coast and right through Dana Point. The Festival of Whales is in its 48th year, and is the first and longest running festival of its kind. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to show your children these gentle giants and watch the whales frolic as they make their way to their next destination.

Newport Beach Film Festival – April 25 to May 2

In its 20th year, the Newport Beach Film Festival is celebrated as one of the leading lifestyle film festivals in the United States. With over 100 narrative and documentary feature films and 200 short films and music videos, this festival brings people from all over the world together to appreciate film. They also bring in 65 of the area’s most talented chefs from some of Orange County’s favorite culinary destinations to provide food for the event, making it one of the largest culinary events in Southern California. If you’ve got a passion for film or a desire to learn more about film and food, you should definitely check out this event.

Taste of Huntington Beach – April 28

Many events in Orange County contribute to charities throughout the area, and Taste of Huntington Beach is no different. All the proceeds from this amazing event go to the Children’s Department of Huntington Beach Public Library, so at least you know you’re having fun for a good cause. There are over 90 vendor booths, from the region’s top breweries and wineries to local Huntington Beach culinary talents. Whether you like beer, wine, food or all three, this event is sure to be a delicious taste of Huntington Beach.
