Buying a Home in 2019

Buying a home or investment property is an exciting process. It’s full of excitement and leads to so much happiness at the end of it all. If you’re preparing to buy a home or looking to make your next investment, purchasing at the beginning of the year is a great way to start off 2019 on the right foot. With excellent levels of inventory on the market, and low interest rates, it couldn’t be a better time to invest. Here are some simple tips for anyone that is preparing to buy a home or investment property in 2019.

3 Tips to Prepare to Buy a Home in 2019

Make the Difficult Choices Early
When you’re searching for your next home or investment property, you have to make some difficult choices. The more you think about what you really want in your next property or home, the easier it will be to make the decision to buy when the opportunity presents itself. Take some time with whoever you’re purchasing your home or investment with, and think about the following:

- What kind of home will you be buying? – Do you want a luxurious home? A beach house? Cottage style? How many rooms would you like to have? Do you want to purchase a duplex? A quadplex? I don’t want to overwhelm you with all the questions, but the more you think about what you want, the easier your home buying process will be.
- Where will you be buying? – Location. Location. Location. This is one of the most important aspect of buying any property. The neighborhood and location you purchase in can dictate resale and rental values. If you have kids, finding a neighborhood in close proximity to good schools would be beneficial. If you’re looking for an investment, having it within walking distance of a store or the beach makes it more attractive to renters. Whatever the case may be, location is important. And when you’re preparing to buy a home in 2019, that remains true.
- What’s important to you? – Make a list of the things you’re looking for in your next home. Prioritize the list and figure out what’s most important, and what you’re willing to compromise on. Maybe you’re willing to sacrifice walking to the beach for being walking distance to school. Figure out what you’re willing to compromise on and what you’re not, that way when you have to make the tough choices, you’re better prepared.

Get All Your Financial Ducks in a Row
The more you have in order before you start the process of buying a home, the better. Make sure your finances are in order and that you have any and all pre-approvals you need to show sellers that you mean business. And make sure you and your spouse or investment partners are on the same page as far as the details of the property you’re looking for.

Find a Reliable Agent
The team you choose in the purchasing process is a huge part of your success and stress levels. Work with a realtor that has a proven track record of success in the areas that you’re searching in. Orange County is a competitive market and it’s looking like 2019 will be no different. Find a reliable agent who will be able to help you through the complex process of purchasing a home or investment property.
