Christmas time throughout Southern California is unparalleled to spending the holidays anywhere else. While we enjoy warmer temperatures and sunshine, the rest of the US is preparing for eminent snowfall.

With plenty of things to do before the holidays arrive, consider taking some time to enjoy one of the many Christmas and Holiday family events throughout Orange County. Don’t let the lack of snow stop you from getting in the holiday spirit. Here are some of the best events in OC to get you ready to deck the halls and ring in the new year!

Things to do During the Holidays

Laguna Niguel Holiday Parade – Kick-off the holiday season at Crown Valley Parkway on December 9 at 10 am with a “Jingle all the Way” themed parade. View more than 100 exciting entries of marching bands, floats, special guests, exotic cars, local heroes and more! A true Southern California tradition, this parade brings in crowds of more than 10,00 people each year. Be sure to arrive early and bring a chair.

Winter Fest OC at the OC Fair – The event that brings you closer than ever to experiencing a white Christmas. Now until January 7th you can enjoy ice tubing, light shows, ice skating and snow play with real snow. There’s also festive live entertainment, seasonal eats, visits with Santa and a beautiful Christmas tree to enjoy. It’s the perfect family fun or charming date night activity. 

Newport Beach Boat Parade – Join more than a million viewers from December 13 to 17 in Newport Harbor at 6:30 pm to watch one of the most interesting holiday light shows. Experience the view of beautifully decorated yachts, boats, kayaks and canoes as they sail along the harbor in the annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. It’s a must-see event in Orange County!

The Chill at the Queen Mary – From December 13 to January 7 at the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Grab the kids and enjoy an international Christmas expedition at the all-new CHILL exhibit. This one-of-a-kind experience will celebrate the traditions of Christmas from six different regions in an exciting exploration of international fare and cultural celebration.
