The University of California, Irvine (UCI) is located in Irvine and draws top local and international students to it arts, sciences, business and education programs. UCI ranked first in the U.S. and fifth in the world among the 100 best universities less than 50 years old and is ranked 12th among the nation’s best public universities and 44th among all national public and private universities, according to the annual U.S. News & World Report “America’s Best Colleges”. Irvine is also home to Concordia University, Irvine Valley College, the Orange County Center of the University of Southern California (USC), Brandman University, and the satellite campuses of California State University Fullerton (CSUF), University of La Verne, and Pepperdine University.
Irvine borders Tustin to the north, Santa Ana to the northwest, Lake Forest to the east, Laguna Hills onto the southeast, Costa Mesa to the west, and Newport Beach to the southwest.
